Its purpose was to identify a new protocol for corneal ectasiae treatment that, compared with existing
ones, could:

- work without epithelium removal (EPI-ON), granting an effectiveness equal, if not greater, than current

EPI-OFF techniques;
- Treat even patients with thin corneas, possibly developing a customisation of the method;
- Reduce intervention time and increase patient compliance.
